Volunteer and Practice Your Spanish on World Nature Conservation Day!
October 18th marks World Nature Conservation Day, a crucial date to reflect on the importance of preserving and caring for the natural environment that surrounds us. In a world where environmental degradation and climate change are growing challenges, this celebration reminds us of the urgent need to take action to protect our nature and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
As we move further into the 21st century, we face pressing environmental challenges that threaten the health of our planet and life on it, such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, pollution, agriculture, and resource depletion, and plastics in the oceans. So, one way to help the environment on your journey is to volunteer at Caoba Farms, accompanied by your Spanish teacher. In addition to practicing Spanish, you are helping with environmental conservation.
What can you do?
Plant trees or cultivate vegetables.
This helps improve air and soil quality in our beloved Antigua Guatemala and throughout the country, as well as providing a source of fresh food in our communities. Furthermore, cultivating food reduces the water and carbon footprint associated with food production and transportation. This helps control the chemicals and pesticides used in agriculture.
When can you volunteer?
From Tuesday to Friday starting at 9 in the morning, lasting approximately 2 hours, you only need to bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable clothing, and pure water.
Remember, if you’re a fan of outdoor activities and a nature lover, this is a great opportunity to do it. Sign up with us to learn Spanish, do volunteer work with your teacher, and enjoy your trip by having this incredible experience at Ixchel School in Antigua Guatemala.
