Traditionally, a family homestay is an integral part of every Spanish immersion course and most of our students choose this option to increase their exposure to native Spanish speakers. Not everyone is comfortable living in the home of a local family, however, and we can also arrange a room right here at the school for you.
The rooms are quite similar to the ones our host families provide, but they come without meals. However, there are optional meal plans available for purchase. All rooms at the school have private bathroom and cable TV, and there is wi-fi throughout the building.
While staying at the school reduces your “commute” to class to a minimum, you also miss the opportunity to meet a typical Guatemalan family and take part in their everyday lives. On the other hand, you have more opportunity to interact with fellow students and the Ixchel team.
Rooms at the school are very popular with our students and often booked out several weeks in advance, particulary during the high season (around Easter and June through August). If you want to stay at the school, we recommend you book early.
n case all rooms at the school are booked out, we can arrange a room at a nearby guest house for you. The guest houses we work with are located in nice and safe residential areas within a few city blocks from the school, about five to ten minutes on foot.
We have several rooms for students right inside of the school. All of the rooms have private bathroom and cable TV, and wi-fi is available throughout the building.
The roof terrace affords a great view all over Antigua and the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.
Rooms at the school can be booked with or without meals. The optional meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. No meals can be provided on Saturday night, Sunday, and national holidays. There is also a kitchen that you can use to cook yourself.
The school is located in a residential area only a few blocks from the Central Park, approximately five minutes on foot. Most places of interest in town are within easy walking distance.
Please note: The rooms at the school are sometimes booked out several weeks in advance, particularly during the high season (around Easter and June through August). We recommend you sign up early if you want to stay at the school.
