Here at Ixchel Spanish School we believe in flexibility so you can choose a class schedule that’s right for you!
Your immersion course can begin on any day. Many students arrive on a weekend and begin classes on Monday, but if another day of the week works better for you, that’s fine with us too.
We offer from two to eight hours of one-on-one lessons a day, up to seven days a week! Lessons are available year round and you can begin your Spanish course whenever it is convenient for you.
Two or three hours of one-on-one lessons a day are fairly easy schedules that are primarily meant for
With two or three hours a day you will progress at a fairly slow pace. If you want to make rapid progress, you might consider taking at least four hours a day.
Four and five hours of one-on-one lessons a day are by far our most popular schedules. Roughly 80 percent of our students choose one of them.
These schedules allow for a good mix of grammar lessons, vocabulary building, exercises and conversation practice. You’ll progress rapidly and still have half a day left for other activities around town.
The four and five hour schedules are suitable for students of all levels. Students who want to prepare for the DELE exam need to take at least four hours a day.
If you’re unsure about how many hours you can handle, start with four hours and see how it goes. We can always adjust your schedule later for you.
Six, seven or eight hours of one-on-one lessons a day are very intensive schedules. They are primarily aimed at intermediate and advanced students who can stay in Antigua for only a short time and want to squeeze in as many lessons as possible.
The structure of the classes is similar to the one with four or five hours, but you’ll spend more time on reviews, exercises and conversation practice. Typically the afternoon classes are dedicated to practicing what you’ve learned.
With 6, 7 or 8 hours a day, you’ll have 4 hours in the morning and the rest in the afternoon, with a 2-hour lunch break in between. You can also work with two different teachers – one in the morning and another one in the afternoon.
Most of our students study Monday through Friday and take the weekend off to go traveling, hang out with friends – or make new friends! – or simply relax and enjoy Antigua’s unique colonial ambiance.
However, if you like, you can study on Saturday and/or Sunday, which will give you additional class time and allow you to progress more rapidly. Weekend classes are mostly meant for students who can stay in Antigua for only a short time and want to add a few extra days to the normal schedule. They are also an option for students who arrive mid-week and want to make up the days they lose at the beginning of the week.
You can begin your classes on any day of the week. Many students arrive on a weekend and begin classes on Monday. But if arriving on another day of the week is more convenient for you, that’s fine with us too. Unlike other Spanish schools in Antigua Guatemala, we do not require students to begin their classes on Monday.
