The closest airport is La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City (airport code GUA), which is about 45 km (30 miles) from Antigua. Do not book a flight to Antigua Bird International Airport (airport code ANU) – that one is located on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean.

The easiest way to get here is to give us your flight details on the registration form and we’ll send our driver to pick you up at the airport. MORE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Certainly! We want you to be happy and enjoy your classes. While our teachers are well-trained and very competent, we recognize of course that there are personality conflicts occasionally. Requests to change teachers are quite rare at our school, but if you want to change, we can usually give you another teacher from one day to the next.

We provide all the class materials you need, so bringing textbooks is not necessary. A dictionary is something no Spanish student can do without; we can provide a list of good dictionary options to consider. While Spanish-English dictionaries are readily available, other languages are hard to find here.

We’ll be glad to arrange for you to stay with the same family if you liked them and they are still available. Many of our students come back to study at Ixchel again and again, and they like to stay with the same family each time.

There is no set length for a Spanish course at Ixchel Spanish School. Some students study with us for a week, others stay for six months or even longer. It all depends on your time and budget, as well as on how much Spanish you want to learn.

It’s not absolutely necessary to book a course in advance, but we recommend it, especially during the high season (from December to April). By booking in advance, you can ensure that a teacher will be available for you on your preferred dates.

All our classes are one-on-one, so you will always have your teacher’s full attention. This allows for a completely customized learning experience, tailored to your needs and interests.

Most of our host families are located within five city blocks from the school. At peak times it might be necessary to place you with a family that’s a little further away, but in any case your family will be within easy walking distance.
