Our guest houses are private homes located just a short walk from the school and exclusively available to Ixchel students. They offer a comfortable and peaceful environment, with friendly hosts who will welcome you and give you a warm local experience.
Unlike a traditional homestay, guest houses provide more privacy and slightly more upscale rooms, while still allowing you to enjoy Guatemalan hospitality. Breakfast is included each morning, so you can start your day relaxed and ready to learn.

Family homestay is a popular accommodation option, allowing students to live with carefully selected local families while participating in their Spanish immersion program at Ixchel.
This option gives you daily opportunities to practice Spanish and experience authentic Guatemalan culture. Homes are clean, safe, and comfortable, but simple and traditional rather than luxury accommodations. Many are charming colonial-style houses typical of Antigua. Families are friendly and enjoy conversation, although extended conversation time may vary depending on daily schedules.
Host families are located within walking distance of the school, in residential areas south and southeast of Antigua’s historic center.
Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. No meals are provided Saturday evening, Sundays, or national holidays.
Rooms at the school are also a very popular accommodation option, especially for students who prefer more privacy or feel more comfortable staying in a student environment.
By staying at the school, you’ll have more opportunities to interact with fellow students and the Ixchel team. While this creates a social and supportive atmosphere, students should be mindful to continue practicing Spanish as much as possible.
The school is located in the south of Antigua’s historic center, just five blocks from Central Park, with restaurants, cafés, and places of interest within easy walking distance.
Meals are available, prepared by our excellent cook, who can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and other dietary needs. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided Monday through Friday, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. A shared kitchen is also available if you prefer to prepare your own meals.
